![]() The MUGEN ARCHIVE is known for its collection of hard-to-find characters and stages that most other warehouses do not have, with the added bonus of them being hosted on their own server. Unregistered users are able to browse the warehouse and forums in addition to having access to file downloads below a certain size, past which registration is required to increase this limit or remove it entirely, with restricted users being referred to as 'leechers' downloads also become unavailable to these users during what the website calls a 'community growing event', which usually takes place over the weekend. It's why I haven't cared to work on anything since early 2018 and why Mama's last edit was a buggy mess. The MUGEN ARCHIVE (formerly known as The Chronicles of Mugen) is primarily a collaborative M.U.G.E.N warehouse, where all members can upload, rate and comment on content, though it also features a forum, chatbox, and wiki. Stuff like this does leave me at least jaded. He fixed a few bugs, so I'll give him props for that. The guy who posted all of my edits there didn't make any attempt to reach me before copypasting my edits. This unsolicited redistribution is within what's allowed by MUGEN's licensing, which is why I'm not livid over it, but it does leave me disgruntled. I guess they're just trying to collect any edits they can to draw visitors and get that delicious ad revenue. At the same time, the site is minimally managed. They tend to hoard any edits they can find (including leaked private ones) and are noncompliant whenever someone requests to take something down. There's quite a few dedicated authors you can find around here who've been burned by them. The management on that site is indeed absolutely scummy. it's not very popular, but it's the most well known at this point. ![]() and being forced into the community when we don't want to. But i ONLY used the site to download characters and stages, I even think most people only used it for that reason. The reason they gave was noble sounding enough: being a part of the community. There were also frequent moments where we couldn't even download, and had to be "active" in the forums. is it a badly mismanaged site? cuz it sounds like it "nobody wants to" sounds like the staff arent willing to do their jobs. Maybe theyre asking for volunteers so they can basically send them the data that they can sift through to see whats hot and whats not? maybe an open request for the 18+ folks to resubmit shit in a compliant fashion? at first i thought i understood shit from that post but the more i look the more vague and unclear it is. Trouble is, none of the mods wanna go through it, so they're entrusting that to the community again. Nothing is deleted, just indefinitely disabled until the +18 creations can be up to code with the two aforementioned instructions. So to avoid wrecking everyone's shit, they went for a temporary purge. A shitton of people did fuck all, in fact. They entrusted the policing to the community, who basically did fuck all with two simple instructions to follow. They don't have the manpower to make it exist with everything else happening. The MUGEN Archive isn't allowed by the laws applicable to the website to display any content deemed shocking without a Steam-styled birth date prompt. If that's still too complicated, let me break it down: However nobody within the current staff members wishes to go through this task, so we request help from the community, in particular 18+ creators. ![]() Now, we would like now to audit the 18+ folders and restore only compliant files that are sufficiently censored and do not contain any offensive language. ![]() Repeated violations committed by users and the lack of staff members to deal with it has led to a purge. We require users to censor BOTH THEIR IMAGE AND THEIR WORDS sufficiently We require users to never post 18+ content outside of the dedicated sections We have tolerated 18+ content under strict conditions which have been largely ignored by the community : We do not have any birth date prompt system and implementing one would require a lot of efforts, a lot of code to rewrite, and a lot of testing, and right now we struggle to implement much more important updates.ĥ. In particular the applicable laws do not allow us to display any shocking content on our pages without prior birth date prompt.Ĥ. Regardless it doesn't mean we can do anything without consequences.ģ.
